About Jens
What happens when a nerd studies forestry, agricultural sciences, and wildlife biology, becomes a teacher—and then stumbles across artificial intelligence in the 21st century? The result is what you see on this website and in the AIs I “supervise.” ReGENius and EcoTeach were taught by me the same way I teach my learners and students—except that the AIs can process far larger datasets in far less time.
Originally, I simply wanted to study forest sciences and forest ecology to become a wildlife biologist. Through my work in wildlife biology, I realized that, in addition to forestry, I also needed animal science knowledge. The occupational science components of my studies ultimately sparked my interest in the profession of vocational school teaching.
Since 2010, I have been working full-time in the field of vocational wildlife management education. Involvement in education for sustainable development, research activities, and related fields led to a growing number of scientific publications, presentations, scripts, and teaching materials. Over the past years, all of this material—often accessible only to a very small group—remained scattered across various hard drives and storage devices.
Engaging with artificial intelligence opened up a new path: instead of writing textbooks, I saw the opportunity to create digital AI-based assistants—publicly accessible, easily adaptable, and capable of engaging users in a meaningful dialogue. A hybrid of textbook, identification guide, and instructional framework.
Since ChatGPT became known a few years ago, I’ve been working with this AI and other models, integrating them into my teaching and my work. Prompting, checking results, etc. have since become a fixed part of my life—augmented by “smart” solutions in forest and wildlife management and in dealing with the consequences of climate change in agriculture and society as a whole. Starting from my own practice, I look for solutions to today’s problems—always with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the dimensions of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in mind.
Integrating and creating new media runs in the family. My great-great-great-grandfather, Friedrich Gotthold Kunze, devised the first wall-picture primer—later editions still hang in almost every primary school today. I myself keep noticing that approaches that are everyday routine for me still surprise teachers and practitioners.
